We are seeking a full-time delivery driver and equipment manager. This position combines the duties of a Delivery Driver, responsible for the safe and timely transport of merchandise, with the
critical function of an Equipment Manager, overseeing the maintenance and compliance of all operational equipment.
We offer a stable and versatile work environment with a great team, Monday - Friday shifts, and permanent employment. Compensation ranges from $30-35/hr plus benefits, depending
on experience and qualifications.
Class 1 license and air brake ticket are a must, crane operator certification is an asset.
Responsibilities Delivery Driver
The Delivery Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient delivery of goods, vehicle maintenance, and customer interaction.
- Move heavy and bulky merchandise for customers and within lumber yard. Assist in loading and unloading merchandise and materials. Complete all shipping documentation on every load.
- Check delivery documents. Follow company procedures regarding required signatures, forms, receipts, etc.. Follow proper documentation procedures for any merchandise that is to be returned or
refused. Maintain proper security over merchandise and delivery documents.
- Advise yard manager of shortages and damaged goods. Report complaints from customers to management. Make suggestions for rule, policy, or procedure changes to improve sales, profits, and/or
morale.
- Follow all safety precautions when operating company vehicles and loading or unloading freight.
Responsibilities Equipment Manager
The Equipment Manager is responsible for maintaining all operational equipment and ensuring staff compliance with maintenance procedures.
- Develop, regularly review, and update maintenance schedules and checklists for all company equipment and vehicles used.
- Quarterly, review checklists for the following equipment to ensure staff compliance and maintenance needs are met: Trucks, Forklifts, HIAB, Crane, and Home Installs Trailers.
- In collaboration with management, supervise or direct staff to acquire or perform appropriate equipment service.
Qualifications and Competencies
- Both roles require a high standard of safety, teamwork, communication, and adherence to company policies.
- Class 1 license and air brake ticket are a must.
- Driver’s Abstract to be provided.
- Crane operator certification is an asset.
- Work in a safe manner in accordance with provincial and federal safety legislation, as well as using good common sense.
- Communicate in a friendly, supportive way with coworkers and customers.
- Attend staff meetings and provide effective input and feedback.
- Respect and value individual differences and diversity by treating everyone fairly and professionally.
- Identify and communicate issues or problems which may impact the organization.
- Take the initiative to anticipate and implement effective solutions to prevent problems or avoid gaps in customer expectations.
